In 1977, I had enrolled in chiropractic school. Shortly thereafter, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. This crisis propelled me on a journey of self discovery and a natural solution to my health challenge. It is one thing to state a belief and it is another to live it. I sought out anyone and everyone to profess a cure. My desperation for a natural cure led me from foot reflexology treatments, to iridology,to naturopaths,, to colonic irrigation, nutrition, prayer, visualizations, Christian Science Healer, Chiropractic and Psychic Healers. When I received acupuncture treatments, my road to recovery began. This is not to say that the other modalities weren’t helpful, they just were not the cure for me. This experience was life altering. As a result, before finishing chiropractic school, I began studying acupuncture with Dr. Amaro, DC. Very soon, I realized the adage that a little learning is a dangerous thing. As a result, when the opportunity presented itself, I enrolled at TriState College of Acupuncture in NYC and studied with Dr. Mark Seem, Kiiko Matsumoto and others. My studies continue to this day. I don’t believe acupuncture works. I know it does!
